Preparing for the third

Game Changers Group

We have had our second group together where you had the opportunity to reflect on and articulate ‘what is yours to do’. I trust that you have engaged in the reflection questions posted after the group and that, if you wanted, you have experimented with new practices. Here is the material in preparation for the third group.

Module:4 - Group:3

Clearing the Way

The theme of our third group is Clearing the Way. In the video below (17min approx.) you will find:

  • An overview of how our cultural conditioning shapes what we think is appropriate and not appropriate, to say and do, and how that differs in the development of boys and girls.

  • An exploration of the implications of the research on you as Game Changers and how you can begin to clear the way to ‘do what is yours to do’.

  • An invitation to consider your own experience and draw insights about how your cultural conditioning has influenced you.

I invite you to watch the video whilst drawing on the intelligence of your whole body – mind, heart and gut. You may want to skim through the questions below the video before you watch it, so you are primed for specific reflections.

Clearing the Way

for Clearing the Way

After looking at the video give yourself some time to reflect on the most pertinent questions below and record answers in your journal, in preparation for our next Group.

  • How did you feel as you watched the video? What was the felt sense in your body?

  • What did you realise or rediscover?

  • What was new and fresh for you? What stood out for you?

  • What did you know all along and now find it is time to author or acknowledge to yourself?

  • Record any immediate memories or images from your own cultural conditioning that come to mind.

  • How do your realisations or discoveries relate to your way of being?

  • How does this effect your role as a GameChanger and how to bring yourself fully to ‘what you are here to do’?

  • What do you intend to do going forward?

We will create the opportunity to share your reflections sensitively and safely in the group.

Embrace your Inner Girl. In this passionate TED talk, Eve Ensler (the renowned playwright and author) declares that there is a girl cell in us all -- a cell that we have all been taught to suppress. She tells heartfelt stories of girls around the world who have overcome shocking adversity and violence to reveal the astonishing strength of being a girl. Her poem at 16.30 is really worth listening to!
